2023 SNF Regulation Updates: Plug-n-Play Policy Package

The updated Pennsylvania State Nursing Home Regulations (under which the majority of provisions go into effect on July 1, 2023) include new or updated requirements for written policies and procedures in the areas of Admissions (§201.24), Pet Therapy (§211.17), Pharmacy (§211.9), and Resident Rights (§201.29). LeadingAge PA has developed policy templates you can use to help ensure you are meeting the new regulatory requirements in these areas, and the Department of Health has reviewed them for consistency with the regulations.
Please note: All policies must be facility-specific and if you choose to use these templates, you should update them to take into consideration the unique needs of your own residents and staff. We do not recommend that you simply copy and paste, but rather use these as a starting point to develop a policy that works for your needs and satisfies all regulatory requirements.
A bonus letter template is also included to share updated requirements and responsibilities with your medical director (§211.2).
