Part one of a three part series, this webinar will cover the basics of the MDS. Tammy Lucas-Coleman, RN Clinical Reimbursement Coordinator at Affinity Health Services, will discuss detailed education on the MDS process, timing of submission, validation reports and best practices on MDS completion.
Tammy began her health care career in long-term care as a nursing assistant in 1998 and advanced her career by becoming an RN, a Nursing Supervisor, Assistant Director of Nursing and in 2009, evolved as a Director of Nursing for a skilled nursing facility prior to joining Affinity Health Services, Inc. in 2017 as a Clinical Consultant. Tammy has experience with development and implementation of quality assurance initiatives focused on improving residents’ quality of care and life in a long term care environment and has achieved a Certificate of Training in Infection Prevention in the Long-Term Care Setting. Tammy is an expert in facility report cards, re-hospitalization initiatives, star-rating analysis driving improvement in quality measures and case mix index. Tammy is Certified in Quality Assurance Improvement Program (QAPI), and a Certified Interact Champion. In 2019, Tammy completed advanced training in Patient Driven Payment Model (PDPM), the new Medicare reimbursement systems, and ICD-10 at the Beacon Institute. Tammy provides the Leadership for the Registered Nurse Assessment Coordinators, provides training on systems necessary to guide the reimbursement systems. Tammy is currently in the instruction phase for MDS 3.0 Certified Resident Assessment Coordinator (RAC-CT).
